200mb Connectivity on the Yacht

Part of being a good DBA is the ability to be on call whenever you are needed. What that means is that I need good connectivity when I am on the yacht.

Introducing the Starlink low orbit internet from SpaceX. I received my Starlink internet equipment this week and installed it on the boat today.

And here are some of the speed test results that I am getting on the boat.

Generally seeing around 180mb to 250mb download speeds and upload speeds of about 35mb.

With the new portability feature from Starlink that allows me to use the Starlink internet anywhere in North America with a few limitations.

What all this means is that with this connectivity that I should be able to provide the same high quality service for clients whether I am at home or on the yacht.

Here is the unit just sitting on the bow. I have ordered the pole mount kit from starlink to be able to mount it on top of a rod holder mounted to the rail at either the bow of the boat or from the flybridge.
